The Best Fashion Graduate award winner Lukáš Krnáč presented his new FW18 collection “Wanna see my jungle” at Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week. The collection, strongly inspired by human relationship towards nature, loudly criticises some very serious issues in the society yet creates a compelling fashion statement you will want to be part of.
Together with the students of the Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design at UMPRUM, Lukaš’ show opened the three day fashion event taking place in a beautiful setting of Clam-Gallas palace. Presenting at MBPFW for the third time, the collection was immediately loved by the audience, the media and street style photographers.
Bold pieces in vibrant green, blue and orange were complemented by a softer palette of brown, grey and black and together formed a comprehensive story of a human race overtaking the environment. Intensifying with every outfit, Lukáš metaphorically showed how we forced a form and rigidness onto the nature around us that in extreme cases takes shape of a complete destruction and a burnout. The critical take on the society was reflected in 24 outfits in a dynamic show.
Loose silhouettes and casual materials dominated the catwalk and were in sharp contrast with used accessories like plastic vests, belts, necklaces and bottles, yellow helmets, bananas, layered sunglasses, lighters and even an ax. Skilfully placed greenery in between the outfit layers was a key detail featuring throughout the collection.
The collection was made at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín, Czech Republic, where Lukáš is currently studying. In November 2017, he won the title of the Best Fashion Graduate, an award given by Slovak Fashion Council. The international panel of judges was led by Muriel Piaser, an International Creative Consultant specialising in fashion counselling, public relations, and global development based in Paris. The judges were extremely impressed by Lukáš’ body of work and crowned him a fashion visionary.
With his FW18 collection “Wanna see my jungle”, Lukáš confirms his maturity in fashion design. Working with a very global issue, he was able to express a complex criticism of the society in a comprehensive fashion collection. Together with conceptual styling, hmu, music and lighting for the show, he created an experience for the audience and a story that was easy to understand and relate to in today’s over informed world. He created a fantastic and a loud collection with pieces the world will want to wear and a statement you will want to shout out.
